Sicomi Preview Terms (for viewers)

Free preview. No charges and no payouts during the preview. We will never charge you without asking first and getting your express consent.

These terms are an agreement between you and 1984 Management Company Inc., doing business as Sicomi ("Sicomi", "we", "us"). Sicomi is a business name that 1984 Management Company Inc., a California corporation, uses for this service. They cover your use of the Sicomi founding preview at sicomi.com and app.sicomi.com (the "Preview"). You create your account and watch titles on app.sicomi.com. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and our Community and Content Rules, which are part of these terms.

1. What the Preview is

1.1 Sicomi is building a streaming service for original series and films made with AI by independent filmmakers. The Preview is an early, invite-only version. Invited viewers can watch titles from our founding creators for free.

1.2 The Preview is a test. Features may change, break, be removed or stop without notice. Titles may come and go. We may end the Preview at any time. If we end it, we will tell you by email where we can.

1.3 There is no price for the Preview. We do not ask for or store any card or payment details. If we later offer paid plans, they will have their own terms, and you will only be charged if you choose a plan and give your express consent at that time.

2. Who can join

2.1 To use the Preview you must:

be 18 or older;
live in the United States;
have a personal invite from Sicomi or from a founding creator; and
agree to these terms when you create your account.

2.2 We ask for your date of birth at sign-up, only to check that you are 18 or older. We do not store your date of birth; we keep only the result of the check. If you are under 18, you cannot create an account and we do not keep what you entered. We do not offer Kids or teen profiles in the Preview.

2.3 Each account is for one person. Keep your sign-in details private. Tell us at support@sicomi.com if you think someone else has used your account.

3. Invites

3.1 Invites are personal and single-use. They expire after 14 days. Do not sell, trade or post invite links publicly.

3.2 We do not send "invite a friend" emails for you. A creator or Sicomi may give you an invite directly.

4. Watching titles

4.1 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to stream titles in the Preview for your own non-commercial viewing while you have an account in good standing.

4.2 You may not:

download, record, screen-capture, rip or redistribute any title, trailer or image, except where a feature we provide clearly allows it;
share your account or let others watch through it;
get around any access control, rating limit, region limit or technical protection;
use bots, scrapers or automated tools on the Preview;
upload, post or send anything that breaks our Community and Content Rules;
use any title or material from the Preview to train or test an AI model; or
use the Preview for anything unlawful.

4.3 Titles belong to their creators. Nothing in these terms gives you any rights in a title beyond watching it as described here.

4.4 Ratings. Each title shows an age rating and an AI-use label from its creator. During the Preview the highest rating is 16+. Ratings are guidance; not every viewer will find every title suitable.

5. Your feedback and anything you post

5.1 If you send us ideas or feedback about Sicomi, we may use them to improve Sicomi without owing you anything. This does not cover your own creative works.

5.2 If the Preview lets you post comments or other content, you keep ownership of it. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host and show it in the Preview for as long as it is posted. You are responsible for what you post, and it must follow the Community and Content Rules.

5.3 We use automated hash-matching (including Microsoft PhotoDNA) to check uploads against known child sexual abuse material. Apparent child sexual abuse material is blocked, preserved and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US federal law requires.

6. Reporting problems

6.1 Every title has a Report button. You can also write to:

6.2 If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 911 first.

7. Suspension and ending your account

7.1 You can close your account at any time in Account settings or by writing to support@sicomi.com.

7.2 We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the Community and Content Rules, if your invite was not valid, if we are required to by law, or if the Preview ends. Except where it would be unlawful, unsafe or would harm an investigation, we will tell you why and how to appeal. You can appeal within 30 days by replying to our message. During the Preview the founder decides appeals: the founder looks at the decision again at least 48 hours after it was made and replies within 14 days. Once our updated Privacy Policy is posted, the founder may also get a second opinion from an AI tool; if one is used, we tell you. The AI tool only gives an opinion; a person makes the decision.

7.3 Sections 4.3, 5.1, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 continue after your account ends.

8. The Preview is provided "as is"

To the extent the law allows, the Preview is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability or accuracy. Because it is a test, you may lose watch history, settings or anything you post. Some states do not allow some of these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

9. Limit of our liability

9.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill, arising from the Preview or these terms.

9.2 To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims arising from the Preview or these terms is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which during the Preview is $0).

9.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

10. Your responsibility to us

If you break these terms or the law while using the Preview and a third party makes a claim against us because of it, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply to claims caused by our own fault.

11. Changes to these terms

11.1 We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will change.

11.2 For a material change, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Preview after that date, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can close your account before then.

11.3 Changes that are required by law or that only fix errors may take effect sooner.

12. Disputes and governing law

12.1 California law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

12.2 Please contact us first at legal@sicomi.com so we can try to sort it out. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where you live, if it qualifies, or in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY], California. You and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Nothing here stops either of us from seeking urgent relief from a court to protect intellectual property or safety.

13. General

13.1 Transfer of these terms. We may transfer these terms, your account and our rights and obligations to a company that controls, is controlled by or is under common control with 1984 Management Company Inc. (for example, a subsidiary formed to run Sicomi), or to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of the Sicomi business, if that company takes on our obligations to you under these terms. We will tell you by email before or when that happens. You may not transfer your account or these terms.

13.2 Whole agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community and Content Rules are the whole agreement between you and us about the Preview.

13.3 If part is invalid. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.

13.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.

13.5 Notices. We send notices to the email on your account. You can send notices to legal@sicomi.com or by post to 1984 Management Company Inc., doing business as Sicomi, Attn: Legal, 63 Dublin, Irvine, CA 92620.
